My Time Blocking Interview on the Toastcaster Show – YMM #18

November 16, 2012

Toastcaster-Time-Blocking-InterviewI was recently on the Toastcaster podcast with Greg Gazin to talk about Time Blocking.

We ended up having a great talk, so I thought I'd share it with you.

What we talk about

We talk about my Mega Productivity course, and more specifically, Time Blocking.

I describe Time Blocking, and then do my best to give you some concrete examples of how to use Time Blocking in your own life.

Greg and I were having a lot of fun too.

By the way… there's a section in the interview where I talk about planning a speech. You'll probably realize it yourself, but I just wanted to tell you that the things I'm talking about can apply to any project you're working on at work, so there's nothing Toastmasters specific about them.

If you haven't picked up a copy yet, here's a link for an instant download of the Time Blocking 101 eBook.

In return, all I ask is that you sign up for my list so I can keep you up to date with some of the things I'm doing. I keep threatening to do a weekly podcast, but until that happens, you'll probably only get an email periodically. Smile

What is Mega Productivity?

This is the 3rd part of a 3-post series.

If you'd like to learn more about the Mega Productivity time management system, you can watch the two videos in the series (or listen to the podcast):

Video #1 – The Core 4

Video #2 – The Tri-cats

3 Web Meeting Solutions Using Stuff You Already Know

July 2, 2012

web-meetingThere are plenty of free places you can go for meetings and presentations online.

Unfortunately, most web meeting options have clunky interfaces. They also require everyone in the meeting to download an applet to see what's happening.

It's a real pain.

Wouldn't it be better if there was a way to use technology that everyone (or mostly everyone) is already familiar with?

1. Google+ Hangouts

Most people these days have at least one Google account. That makes Google+ a great place to use for a meeting because the majority of people will already have a general idea of how to navigate the site.

Google+ Hangouts are still relatively new, but they're quickly gaining in popularity. There's a Meeting option (max 10 people) and a Broadcast option (for lots of people). [Read more…] about 3 Web Meeting Solutions Using Stuff You Already Know

Update: Free Alternative to Webex and GotoMeeting

June 29, 2012

MeetingBurner now offers free web meetings for up to 15 people

I wrote an article a while back on a free alternative to Webex and GotoMeeting. I talked about a pretty cool and effective site for holding web meetings called MeetingBurner.

Since I wrote the article, there have been changes to the pricing structure at MeetingBurner, so I wanted to see whether it's still the best option.

I found a few interesting results.

Meeting Burner has now gone to a Freemium model

The folks over at MeetingBurner have moved from a completely free setup to a Freemium model. That means there's still a level of free service (15 people Edit: Reduced to 10), but if you want more there's now a fee associated with it.

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.

~ Dr. Seuss

Why did they start charging?

A Cool (and Free) Mind Mapping Tool – XMind

June 27, 2012

I want to share a free mind mapping tool that I've used for years. It's stacked with features and it looks professional.

The best part is that it's free.

The tool I'm talking about is called XMind and it comes with a free version that I think will work for 80%-90% of you out there. The pro version is amazing, but it's not necessary for everyone.

Anyway, I've put together a video run-down of XMind. I think you'll like it.
